Celebrating our renovated office and unveiling a tribute to the company’s history
Vitec Raisoft’s office has undergone a major transformation over the summer, with the entire space refreshed and updated. Additional offices have been built, the kitchen facilities have been renovated, and the break room has been updated with new, light and comfy furniture.
THE founders - Johan Boholm, Magnus Björkgren, Robert Åström and Rune Hassel
The founders of Raisoft were invited as special guests to the opening celebrations for the renovated office on Friday, 9 October: long-time CEO Robert Åström, Johan Boholm, Magnus Björkgren and Rune Hassel. The latter two still work at Vitec Raisoft.
THE founders
Once the staff and guests had gathered in the break room, CEO Niklas Kankkonen gave a short speech before unveiling a work of art concealed behind a curtain. Kankkonen reflected on how important it is to know the past in order to look to the future.
The founders from the bottom up: Rune Hassel, Robert Åström, Magnus Björkgren, Johan Boholm
Following these words, Regional Director Lawrence Smith and Niclas Boholm from 3DEX Oy, who were responsible for the design and production of the piece, cut the cord and unveiled “THE founders”. The artwork features stylised 3D-printed stencil portraits of the four founders, arranged alphabetically. Above them is the THE founders logo, stylised from Raisoft’s original logo, and below is the company’s long-standing slogan: For People, By People. Since 2000.
After the emotional unveiling, Robert “Robbi” Åström gave a thank-you speech on behalf of the four founders.
– It’s wonderful to see you all. When I think about what I have missed about the workplace, the answer is you. The people, the friends. The work was quite all right too, but it’s the people I miss, and I carry you with me. This was a huge surprise. Thank you all, and all the best for the future!
After coffee and cake, lively conversation and happy reunions, there was time to take in the tribute.
– I was so touched that it brought tears to my eyes. This was a huge surprise, Magnus Björkgren commented as the celebrations were coming to an end.
Johan Boholm said that Kankkonen’s words about knowing the past resonated strongly with him.
– I really tried beforehand to figure out what might be happening here, but I couldn’t come up with anything, Robert Åström says with a smile.
– Looking at the staff, I found myself wondering whether it really was us four who had started something that has now grown to employ so many people.
– We’ve already come a long way, and there has been all kinds of growth along the way. You can’t do everything the same way you did 26 years ago, Rune Hassel reflects.
A 26-year journey – once again on the threshold of something new
– When we started our journey with RAI, computers were only just beginning to find their way into care facilities. They were already used in offices, but hardly at all by care staff. When Johan and I held the first training sessions on the RAIsoft software at the university centre, we taught nurses how to use a mouse, Magnus Björkgren recalls.
The past four years have marked a new era, with Raisoft becoming part of the Vitec Group. The four founders also note that, in a way, we now find ourselves in a similar situation to when the company was first established, as artificial intelligence rapidly transforms the way we work.
– This is a revolution, not an evolution, Rune Hassel says.
They are happy with the change of ownership.
– We wanted to find an owner for Raisoft who would take the work forward, Björkgren says.
Åström says that he visited Umeå many times before the acquisition and had extensive discussions with Vitec’s founders.
– There is no conflict between the values of Vitec and Raisoft. Four years later, this is still the same company.
The four founders recognise and acknowledge that Vitec has, of course, brought a different perspective to the financial side of the business, new forms of accountability for results, and the operating practices of a listed company. But the foundation remains the same.
– We were looking for a long-term approach. The company has now moved into a new phase, Johan Boholm concludes.
